Week 3

Room 16 have had a busy week this week.

We have been learning lots of information about the octopus and we have decided we are all a bit like the octopus species because they have big brains and are very intelligent.

Our big book had an octopus in it and we watched some amazing clips of octopus in their natural environment and in captivity.  We also saw an octopus open a closed jar to get  the crab inside.  Wow they are clever!!

We have a new wall display with some of our writing and we also made an octopus for our art.  Please come in and see it.

Seondly, we have been excited about the All Blacks versus Australia game on Sunday morning and we are all keeping everything crossed in the hope they will win.  Lots of us wore black today and the whole school got together and made a silver fern to support the All Blacks.

Finally, as part of our Maths unit we are learning to identify 2D and 3D shapes and be able to talk about their attributes and what is the same and different about them.  We joined with Room 17 and had a learning afternoon all about working with and discovering shapes.

Both classes were enjoying their learning and lots of students used fantastic problem solving skills making the different 3D shapes with the construction sticks and play dough.  We also made pictures with cut out shapes and made paint prints with different shapes.
Check out our photos:

Just a reminder that we have swimming on Monday and Spelling books are meant to come back to school on Fridays.

Have a great weekend and GO THE ALL BLACKS!!

  4. Hi Julie, may I know what this spelling book is about? I have not seen Daniel bring home any, is it something that I should get from the office? Thanks.
