Week 2 and 100 days of school!!!!

What a great time we have had this week.  Thank you to all the parents that could make our interviews this week, it was lovely to talk about the progress the students' have made.

Our Big Book this week was about  Mr Bitter who had beautiful fresh bread and no butter and Ms Melody who had butter but no bread.  We talked about the message of the story, of sharing and how to be a good friend.  The pictures of bread looked so good we had to make some.  So on Monday we made bread in a bread maker and students' wrote some amazing response writing about what it tasted and smelt like.
Check out your child's writing book to read their writing.

On Wednesday, we celebrated completing 100 days of school.  We had a shared lesson with Room 17. We joined together to sing a counting song to 100, then count in tens to 100.  We had different activities that students could chose to take part in.  Filling in the missing numbers to 100, making 100's and 1000's bread and using a star cutter, making funky and crafty 100 cardboard glasses and making towers with 100 numeracy blocks and asking how many towers will there be?  The students had lots of fun and it was a great experience to increase their number and place value knowledge.

End of term and Pyjama Day.

Friday 3 July 2015
On Thursday, we had a reward day for  respectful and responsible behaviour all term.  We had lots of fun dressing up in our pyjamas and bringing our teddies to school.  We had fun activities like listening to stories and drinking hot chocolate.  We also had a discovery afternoon where we got to make crafts and make happy face biscuits.

Here are some photos of our fun day.

Cora has been working really hard on writing a story with a focus on it having a beginning, middle and an end.  She has also been working on using different sentence starters and a varied vocabulary.  I read her story out in Rainbow hui today.  Good on you for all your hard work Cora!

Finally, wow we made it.  The holidays are here and everyone in Room 16 can have a well deserved break.
We look forward to meeting with all the parents and caregivers of our students in week 2, next term for three way interviews.  Today, we farewell Joshua who is starting in the Montessori class next term. We wish him all the best and we will miss him, but we will see him in the playground.
Have a wonderful holiday and stay safe.
