This week we have had a Big Book called Haere Atu, which is set at the beach. The story has had lots of rhyming and descriptive names like "spotty dotty bag" and "Floppy sloppy sunhat." We have enjoyed learning the Maori words in the book.
They are:
Haere Atu - go away
namu - sandfly
kia tere - be quick
aue! - an expression of surprise
haere - go
We have also continued our "Rocky Shore" topic and we have written about starfish, crabs and learnt about their habitat. We also learnt that Starfish don't have a brain and range from quite small to very very big!
We have worked hard on writing about what we are seeing when we learn about the Rocky Shore. The class were working on including lots of detail in their writing. We also sketched and dyed our pictures of crabs and added glitter for some sparkle to show the glistening water. Here are the pictures of the stages of drawing, outlining with sharpie, dying and then putting glitter on our pictures. Then the final result.
Our Rocky Shore trip is on Wednesday 25 November.
